About

Hello! I am Monika, a researcher, educator, and advocate for media literacy, with a passion for understanding and combating disinformation. My work combines language, misinformation, and technology, with a focus on exploring how social media patterns influence the success of information campaigns. Through my research and teaching, I aim to empower individuals and communities to navigate today’s complex media landscapes with critical awareness and confidence.
My academic journey has included developing comprehensive media literacy curricula, collaborating with educators globally to integrate digital and media literacy into classrooms, and conducting training on the ethical use of artificial intelligence in education. I’ve also worked on projects examining large-scale social media datasets to uncover insights into disinformation trends, particularly in the Latvian context.
Here, you’ll find my publications and current projects, as well as webinars on topics like media literacy, computational linguistics, and AI’s role in shaping digital narratives. I’m particularly interested in collaborating with others who are passionate about using technology to foster informed and empowered digital citizens.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to connecting with you to explore new ideas and collaborations.
